Agios Theodoros

Agios Theodoros: a traditional village on Cyprus's south coast

Agios Theodoros is a picturesque traditional village about 25 km southwest of Larnaca, between Larnaca and Limassol. Set in a lush valley along the banks of the Pentashinos River, it combines stunning mountain views with a location just a five-minute drive from the sea.

Its central position makes it an excellent base for touring the island, while the village itself offers a quieter, more traditional side of Cyprus.

Village life and local food

Take a walk along the winding cobbled streets to see the village's traditional architecture and meet its friendly locals. Agios Theodoros is also known for its traditional tavernas, serving mezes and local specialities.

History and churches

The village takes its name from its saint, Agios Theodoros of Tyrona. Along the coastal road you will find the church of Saint Anargiron and the Three Children. Set among the hills, the 12th-century church of Holy Mary of Astathkiotissas offers a peaceful place to visit and makes a perfect hiking destination.

For families

The village has a children's beach play area with swings and play equipment. Within about a 10-minute drive, the Camel Park at Mazotos has a play area and gives children the chance to learn about animals including ostriches, goats, deer, ponies, wallabies, llamas, turtles, fish and birds.

Days out in Limassol

The lively city of Limassol is within about a 35-minute drive. Its long seafront has sandy and pebble beaches, cycling and pedestrian paths, cafes, bars, restaurants and hotels, along with shopping, water sports, sightseeing tours and nightlife.
